Up, up and AWAY!

One of my absolute favorite Connecticut outdoor events is coming up in a few weeks and I can’t wait. Every year, the Plainville Fire Company holds a weekend-long, hot air balloon festival. The festival is held at Norton Park on South Washington Street in Plainville, Connecticut. This year’s festival will be held on August 25th, 26th & 27th.

At night, there is a balloon “glow” during which all of the balloons light up and you can walk around and admire their vibrant colors. Or – if you arrive early enough in the morning (around 6am) on Saturday and Sunday, you can watch as all of the balloons prepare to launch…

…take off…

…and fly away.

In addition to hot air balloons, this festival also offers food vendors, craft booths, a car show and even Saturday night fireworks. This makes it a great way to get outside with friends and family to enjoy a scene that does not come around too often.

If you are from the Connecticut area, or if you have a similar event near you, I highly recommend attending. You can find more information about the Plainville festival here.
